Author Journey

Mangal D Karnad’s author journey is shaped by a lifelong relationship with words, observation, and lived experience. Her writing spans poems and stories, and children’s literature that explore memory, belonging, and everyday life.

Growing up in Mulki, Karnataka, a small coastal town, deeply influenced her understanding of childhood and community. These early experiences continue to influence her childhood stories with moral understanding, told through real moments rather than instruction. Her stories reflect resilience, fairness, and the subtle ways children learn by watching the adults around them.

Alongside children’s fiction, Mangal writes poems about life that examine ambition, ageing, work, relationships, and personal growth. Her developing poetry collection is grounded, reflective, and intentionally restrained, inviting readers to pause and think.

Beyond writing, Mangal is the co-founder of FableSquare, a digital marketing agency focused on helping brands express their authentic voice. While her professional career has shaped her strategic thinking, her author journey remains deeply personal, an exploration of family stories, and the process of authoring a book with honesty and care.

When she is not writing or working with brands, Mangal can often be found crocheting for Yarn Bear, or reading quietly.

Folded Away Softly

A Collection of Poems About Life

Folded Away Softly is a collection of short meaningful poems that linger on life’s small, resonant moments, sensory and emotional snapshots that stay long after they have passed.

These poems about life are not grand declarations or dramatic turning points. They dwell instead in the lingering scent of jasmine at twilight, the hush after a truth left unspoken, and the ache and tenderness of everyday living. The poems move through childhood memories, unspoken losses, quiet betrayals, nostalgia, the dignity of ageing, unacknowledged triumphs, and longings that never announce themselves.

Each poem is paired with an illustration and a brief backstory, not to explain, but to offer context and companionship. Folded Away Softly is a poetry collection for readers who value restraint, reflection, and the quiet stories we carry within us.
